Arriving

VENUE

We’ve booked Castillo de Castilnovo for our wedding, which is 1 hour away from Madrid, so you can stay nearby in Segovia, or in the city of Madrid. There is a list of hotels in the Travel Guide recommended by the venue.

AIRPORT

If you are coming from outside Spain, you will need to book a flight to Madrid. Please check your passport is valid before you leave! Then we suggest booking a hotel near the venue or in Madrid since we’ll arrange for a shuttle to bring guests to the venue.

SHUTTLE

For anyone coming from Madrid on Saturday, there will be an afternoon shuttle to the venue from Madrid. Then there will be shuttles back to Madrid in the evening.

WEATHER

In Spain, it can be quite hot during the summer, so we highly encourage you to bring a water bottle, a fan, and sunscreen to keep cool. Segovia is near the centre of Spain, so it has an average temperature of 29, but it could be warmer.

We will update this page with more information as time goes on, so please save this link so you can come back to see suggested hotels, activities, our wedding itinerary, and so on.

Wedding Schedule

We are still finalizing the schedule, so this may change in the coming weeks. Currently, here are some times worth noting:

CHECK IN

  • If you are staying in the castle with us, you can check in anytime after 4pm on Friday, August 14th, and your dinner is provided.
  • We’ll have some games and activities planned that evening, including a surprise performance around 10pm!

CEREMONY

  • For anyone in the castle, Breakfast is included that morning, so you have all afternoon to enjoy the castle and rest.
  • The ceremony will start at 6:30pm on Saturday, August 15th, followed by a cocktail, dinner, and dancing.
  • In Spain, weddings typically go almost all night, so it’s best to nap during the day if you can!

CHECK OUT

  • For anyone in the castle, we must be checked out of our rooms by 12pm on Saturday, August 16th. Breakfast is also included that morning.

QUESTIONS:

How can I communicate with everyone?

We’ve created a WhatsApp group for guests coming to the wedding, please contact Javier or Victoria to be added to it.

What if I can’t come to Spain?

We know it’s not possible for everyone to come, so there will be a second event held near Vancouver, BC most likely in the summer of 2027. Stay tuned for more details on that!

What should I wear?

The wedding colour will be dark red or burgundy, so you’re welcome to dress in that or any other outfit that makes you feel stunning! We just want to spend time with you, so it is not mandatory.

Bring light, breezy clothes for during the day, and formal clothes for the night. The ceremony will be in the evening, so you may want to have a light shawl if the weather is cloudy.

In Spain, weddings are quite formal compared to Canada, but as long as you’re dressed to impress we’re happy!

Is there a wedding registry?

There is no wedding registry, but we will have a honeymoon fund that you can contribute to instead. Please do not bring us gifts, as it will be difficult for us to transport back home to Canada.

You can send us an e-transfer (frikinformatico@gmail.com) or Wise is also preferred.

Travel Guide to Spain

We put together a small Travel Guide with tips for going to Spain, accommodations near the venue, and some of our favourite things to do.

This will be helpful if it’s your first time travelling internationally as well.
